Animated volunteer recruitment films for a national charity
Video animation production
Citizens Advice – a national charity that offers free help and support on legal matters – commissioned Magneto Films to produce 5 animated videos to help them recruit 50 new volunteers across England and Wales for their advice line. They wanted the films to deliver multiple key messages that included the benefits of volunteering, the full training and support that’s given, the fact that volunteers can work from home and the satisfaction that comes from helping other people.
Designing animations to fit outcomes
We worked closely with the team at Citizens Advice to refine their key messages into a number of individual animations, each focusing on a key message. We settled on 5 videos, each of approx 15 seconds long each, designed to be used on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Our animator then created a series of storyboards and key frames to show the client how the films would look: this was a great opportunity to incorporate brand colours and their house style, and we were able to incorporate elements of their existing imagery to ensure our films fitted the brand perfectly.
Once the style frames and storyboards had been approved we moved on to create the video animations, and we eventually provided each animation in landscape and square formats for various social media channels. The campaign was bi-lingual so we also provided Welsh language versions of the films too.
Achieving their targets
These animations had an ambitious target of attracting 500 new recruits within 2 months of their launch. We were delighted when Citizens Advice told us that they’d hit this target with 3 weeks of launching.
