Medical Training Video
East of England Ambulance
Producing accurate, engaging, and operationally relevant training content for healthcare professionals is a challenge that demands collaboration, precision, and a structured production process. Magneto Films recently worked with the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust to produce a health and medical training video focused on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The film is now a core resource for training ambulance crews in the coordinated deployment and integration of multiple paramedic teams during critical incidents.
This project builds on our long-standing relationship with the Trust. We have previously produced recruitment films and mental health training videos, giving us a strong understanding of their operational requirements and communication objectives.
Clinical Training Video Designed for Real-World Situation
This training video was designed to demonstrate the sequence and integration of responders arriving at a cardiac arrest incident. The film clearly shows the roles of:
Bystanders providing first aid
Volunteer responders
First and second ambulance crews
Senior paramedics managing command and oversight
It illustrates how teams position themselves around the casualty, run through structured procedures, and communicate under pressure. By presenting this visually, crews can better understand the flow of response and their individual responsibilities, providing a practical learning tool that complements written procedures.
Accuracy, Safety and Clinical Oversight
Clinical accuracy and operational safety were central to the project. We collaborated with a senior medical advisor to develop a precise shooting script. A team of clinical observers reviewed scenes in real time, confirming that positioning, sequencing, and operational procedures were accurate. This ensures the video is a reliable and safe training resource for ambulance crews.
Filming involved coordinating multiple teams, vehicles, locations, and staff, including:
Four active paramedic teams
Emergency vehicles across multiple locations
Cast, crew, and clinical observers
Catering and on-site facilities for all participants
All participants were working professionals, which required the production to run efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
Technical Approach to Clear and Practical Training Content
A key requirement from the client was a shot that gave a clear, bird’s eye view of the scene to show how teams interact and position themselves around the casualty during a cardiac arrest response. To achieve this we used a crane-mounted camera to capture a schematic, top-down view of the scene, supported by two additional cameras capturing close-up action and critical interactions.
We also provided a live video feed to monitors on set, allowing observers to check each scene in real time and flag any adjustments needed. Sound recording was a particular challenge with multiple responders speaking and moving across the set, but our sound team ensured clean, usable audio for the final film. This approach makes the training content visually clear, operationally accurate, and highly practical for emergency crews.
Structured Production Process Ensuring Quality and Accuracy
Projects of this complexity rely on a clear and proven workflow. Our production process included:
Research and information gathering – understanding clinical procedures and operational context
Pre-shoot scripting and clinical review – developing a script verified by senior medical advisors
Production planning – coordinating crews, cast, vehicles, locations, catering, and logistics
On-set management – overseeing filming to maintain accuracy, safety, and efficiency
Post-production – editing, graphics, and final sign-off
This structured approach allowed us to manage a complex, multi-team shoot efficiently and deliver a high-quality training video for the Trust.
This is one example of our training video production work, including clinical and staff training films for healthcare and public-service organisations. See more of our NHS video production work, including recent films for NHS Trusts and national NHS organisations.
”The video exceeded our expectations and I would recommend Magneto to anyone.
